In-text or parenthetical citations in MLA style consist of the author's last name and the page number of the quote or paraphrase. Given that there can be duplicate information, a lack of an author(s)' name, or no page number (as in the case of online web-sources), the information required to create the in-text citation can vary.
Examples:
In MLA, a works cited page lists the references used in the paper. The works cited page should always start on a brand new page at the very end of the document. If there are notes to the paper, these should precede the works cited page.
The title of the page should be "Works Cited" and it should be cenetered at the top of the page. The one inch margins used throughout the paper should be maintained.
Unique to the works cited page is the hanging indent that should occur on the second line and any following lines of the citation. The hanging indent should be set at .5 in.
